Okay, speculating about the end of YouTube — the world’s largest, most popular and still most valuable video publisher — is extremely premature. YouTube is where the views are and celebrities are made. It beats MySpace, Yahoo!, AOL and Hulu by many millions of monthly viewers.
But when NewTeeVee reported that NBC is tapped Facebook to premiere its new show, Community, one of this fall’s most anticipated comedies, I had a thought: Did YouTube have a chance at such a plum premiere?

Haven’t seen this ad run on television, but apparently this is an actual commercial for Extended Stay Hotels and is based upon something all humans can relate to: farting. My mother thought this was hilarious. You can judge for yourself.

I stumbled upon AariKabari’s videos the other night while searching YouTube for undiscovered treasures regarding my hometown and high school. I was surprised that this girl hasn’t received a ton of views.
So here’s the million dollar question? What makes or breaks a viral video? I think the video above has the potential to go “viral” but what is the deciding factor? Perhaps it takes the influence of one blog post to help kick start word of mouth?
