Political Correctness and the Presidential Double-Standard Strike Again

Posted on 16 September 2009 by Joe Dimeck

Kanye West is a jackass.  There’s no disputing this. What he did at the VMAs was just another incident in a long line of boneheaded and douchy incidents involving that megalomaniac.  So when Obama was recorded calling Kanye a “jackass” you think his comments would be met with support, but no, the presidential double-standard strikes again.  Just like when he killed a fly or made a joke about the Special Olympics–and remember, the joke about the Special Olympics was self-deprecating and not a malicious insult towards the Special Olympics no matter how crudely phrased it may have been.

Nevertheless, the media doing what they do best, which is to sensationalize a petty issue for the sake of ratings and pageviews, has taken a subtle opposition towards the president’s statement by reporting that people are upset over the comment.  Well, that’s no surprise.  The Glenn Becks of the world look for any opportunity to call for Obama’s assassination, but Obama isn’t the first or last president to be afflicted by the presidential double-standard. Trailer for New Zach Galafianakis Film, The Hangover.

Posted on 10 May 2009 by Joe Dimeck

Zach Galafianakis is probably one of the best comedians working today.  So, as you could imagine, I was psyched when I learned he has a new movie coming out on June 5th.  The trailer for The Hangover is posted above, and if it doesn’t make you want to see this movie, well, then you clearly don’t enjoy laughing.  Click through for video of Zach Galafianakis’ video for Kanye West’s song, “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” Continue Reading

Celebrity Interns: Kanye West to be Louiss Vuitton or Raf Simons’ protege?

Posted on 09 December 2008 by Brian James

Kanye West is the latest celebrity to hop on the interning is now officially cool train. Apparently, Kanye wants to intern for fashion power houses Louis Vuitton or Raf Simons and apply that experience to launch his highly anticipated fashion line.

Simons tells the NY Times:

“I was blown away from the planet when he told me. I know he’s very serious about this — I don’t take it as a joke — but how can I imagine him being my intern? It’s a very extreme situation.”

If Mr. West follows through, and there’s no reason to doubt the man, then he’ll be joining the ranks of recent celeb interns such as musician Ryan Adams and hockey star Sean Avery. Adams interned for the style & culture magazine Blackbook (publicity stunt!) and Avery landed aninternship at Vogue. Did any of them walk away with some sort of valuable experience to further their career? Probably not, but that is why Kanye is capitalizing on becoming a fashion protege. [Read more]

Sam Spiegel – The Man Behind the Sci-Fi Audio Madness of Kanye West’s “Glow in the Dark” Tour

Kanye West - Glow in the Dark Tour

Sam Spiegel, aka Squeak E. Clean, teamed up with Kanye West to help conceptualize the audio madness for Kanye’s sci-fi inspired Glow in the Dark  2008 tour. I envy those of you who have gotten or who will have the chance to experience Kanye’s epic space adventure.

Joan Hiller from TheDailySwarm described the performance as “… a huge, amazing landscape set complete with reflective rolling hills and a rising, moving, smoke-spouting, …with all the projections firing, Kanye was standing/floating in multiple planetary and atmospheric spacescapes—lava floes, explosions, waterfalls and galaxies…”

Sam Spiegel, who also happens to be Spike Jonze’s brother, is a respected film and commercial composer as well as a popular DJ and party promoter. Remember the SUDS parties in carwashes throughout South California? Continue Reading
