Twitter’s Foul-Mouthed Motherf*ckers

Posted on 07 April 2009 by Edward Song

I still hope and pray each night before bed that one day I’ll learn the dark and highly valued secrets of Twitter that everyone else seems to know, but until that day arrives, the following should help explain the allure of Twitter.

Lowly internet peasants, behold the classiness of the Twitter population!

cursebird

The aptly titled CurseBird provides live updates of the latest “Tweets” that eloquently include a curse word.  The results are tallied and displayed as a neat statistic on the front page.  Apparently, “fuck” is the curse of choice when these “Twittites” share with the world the nuanced happenings of their super important lives. Aretha Franklin’s Inauguration Hat

Posted on 26 January 2009 by Heather Holloway

Aretha Franklin’s inauguration hat is getting a lot of attention. Luke Song designed the hat. According to the Associated Press he is selling similar versions of her hat. You can check out his website here:  www.mrsongmillinery.com

Her hat is getting a lot of attention on the internet also. People are using photoshop to put her hat in their own pictures, on well known people and iconic pictures. There is a fan page on Facebook with over 30,000 members. Flickr has a photo pool where users can add their pictures with her hat.

Here are some highlights: Continue Reading

As Seen On Twitter: Weekly Round-Up 09.20.08

Posted on 19 September 2008 by Brian James

My oh my! Here we go. Welcome to the first edition of As Seen On Twitter, our weekly round-up of the inter-web’s most creative, witty and informative tweets! As expected, Vegas was the talk of the town with this year’s Blog World Expo taking over Sin City. CNN’s Rich Sanchez is actually a social media addict. The financial crisis was a buzz worthy topic, but the most memorable tweets came straight from your imaginative (possibly delusional) little brains. Continue Reading

My prayers have been answered: FuckThatBand.com

Posted on 19 September 2008 by Brian James

The current music scene is saturated with talentless artists who rely too heavily on the number of MySpace friends and plays as a measurement of success and fame. Regardless of height, weight and body shape, these local celebrities all rock the same x-small screen printed t-shirt from American Apparel and the same pair of jeans they stole from their 15 year old girlfriends.

Unoriginal music influenced by successful unoriginal bands. It’s those same annoying hand gestures, lyrics, melodies, hairstyles and tattoos that make you think to yourself… “fuck that band!”

Seriously. This website is a blessing. FuckThatBand.com

Web Creator Cleans Up Net

Posted on 15 September 2008 by Chris Skoyles

The creator of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, says more needs to be done to banish false information and rumours from the web.

Talking to the UK’s BBC News prior to the launch of a new World Wide Web Foundation which aims to improve online accessibility, Sir Tim says he is becoming ever more concerned about the amount of false information published into cyberspace.

To help combat such a problem, The World Wide Web Foundation plans to help weed out rumours and rubbish information by vetting websites and marking those deemed to be reliable sources of news and information.

However, he was the first to admit that this may be a more complicated matter than meets the eye. Continue Reading

Internet Radio – Beyond the Beat Generation

Posted on 09 May 2008 by Brian James

Beyond the Beat Generation - Internet Radio

For those who think good music is hard to come by these days, I suggest tuning into Beyond the Beat Generation, a 24 hour internet radio station broadcasting obscure music from the 60’s.

“BEYOND THE BEAT GENERATION archives and publishes the entire, long forgotten ‘wild’ musical gems out of the great years of the sixties (1965-1969) to a bright audience by using today’s technology as we call ‘Stream Radio’.

We broadcast 24 hours non-stop through the Internet the music formerly known as: Hippie music, Underground, 60’s punk, Flower Power, Mod, Free-Form-Freak-out, Garage music, Psychedelia or Teen Beat, the weirdest, the worst, the most powerful and nastiest ever recorded.
During the 60’s all teens were obsessed by music, but only a few touched surface, all groups wanted to be, sound like, or look like ‘The Beatles’, ‘The Rolling Stones’, ‘Pink Floyd’, ‘The Doors’, ‘Jefferson Airplane’ or ‘The Velvet Underground’.

Music was a movement. Music was the expression of a lifestyle. Music was politics, a protest against establishment, wars and society.”

Tune in to the BYBG internet radio station at BeyondTheBeatGeneration.com
