And the Endorsement (and Codpiece) Everyone’s Been Waiting On Is Finally Here…

Posted on 04 November 2008 by Mike Newman

Everyone has been on the edge of their seats, not sure of who to vote for up till now. It is now that we can all breathe a sigh of relief; now that the political guru and musical icon who is known to “F*ck Like A Beast” with his rotary sawblade crotch, and who is known to the world over as the amazing…the one…the only…Blackie Lawless, of course of W.A.S.P. mega-fame, has finally laid down all the wisdom that we will need in order to step into the voting booths on Tuesday! Thank you for doing the thinking for us, Blackie…why can’t you be President instead?!

Sooo… What’s left?

Posted on 19 October 2008 by Alexander Silva

A Facebook friend posted an interesting article. Here’s my take…

With the seemingly eminent election of not only Obama, but of enough democrats to make up a “super-majority” in both the House AND Senate, what will does this mean for you and me? Well… Continue Reading

Two Blacks Don’t Make A Right

Posted on 15 October 2008 by Christopher Higgins

Jessie Jackson is trying to insert himself into this year election not realizing that his time has come and past. According to news report Jackson said, “Obama is about change, and the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it.” He also went on to say that under an Obama administration, Israel relationship with the United States would be different. The McCain campaign which has been faltering the last few weeks and is need of resuscitation is trying to latch onto these comments and make hay out of them. They are trying to say that Mr. Jackson speaks for the Obama campaign even though he is not an adviser.

Jesse Jackson, I have always maintained is unwilling to let go. He still wants to be the voice that Black America holds onto. His time has elapsed and his service throughout the years are well appreciated by many. He needs to move on and allow Obama to carve out his niche and become what he was created to do. Jackson also made news a earlier in the campaign season for some comments he made while unaware of a mike being opened. His comments back then was dismissed by many, including his own son, and the McCain campaign did not hold onto those comments because it was not politically convenient. They were too busy linking Obama to Paris Hilton and others. Continue Reading

Fact-Checking Chain-Mail: Misinformation in a World of Information

Posted on 10 September 2008 by Erick Gonzalez

I think you can relate. Everyday, without exception, I receive eighty-two work related e-mails and 1,236 chain-letters from people throughout the planet, along with the odd signal from the cosmic microwave background radiation in outer-space. Today was no exception.

I received an e-mail about a prominent restaurant in Atlanta that had been shut down for allegedly using mice as a chicken substitute. Of course this was presented with visual stimuli to legitimize their claims, so presented to me in the e-mail were pictures of neatly packed, vacuum-sealed rodents acting as exhibit ‘A’ for a jury from which they never sought judgment.

For starters, I have family that lives in Atlanta so naturally I was wondering if they’d eaten there recently or have, at the very least, heard about this. Before causing them unnecessary distress (aside from what I try to give them on a consistent basis), I figured I’d do something out of the ordinary: Continue Reading

The Democrats doin’ their thang!

Posted on 29 August 2008 by Brian James

Barack, Hillary, Michelle and Joe After the DNC!

Barack, Hillary, Michelle and Joe After the DNC!

Barack Obama is beyond psyched he got the nomination. Hillary’s got no complaints after her well received speech. Michelle is in the back doin’ her thang like it’s nobody’s business. Joe Biden is just going along for the ride!

If this is supposed to be a Republican smear tactic attempting to portray the first ever African American presidential candidate as some sort of Starbucks, gas guzzling, Jeep Wrangler driving elitist then I’m sorry. There’s nothing more I would like to see than the Obama clan and the rest of the Democrats out celebrating the historical feats they have achieved over the past 18 or so months!

Obama pounds it out with Michelle

Posted on 02 July 2008 by Brian James

Obama and Michelle pound it out

I was in the Philippines when Obama clinched the Democratic Presidential nomination and missed out on a lot of the news coverage here in the US. While I did watch CNN International, apparently they neglected to cover the Democratic presidential hopeful and his wife pounding it out in celebration of his hard fought victory. Really? Yes.

So what does this say about Obama and his marriage to Michelle? For many, it says a lot. If anything, it portrays their relationship and how they get along and work as a team. It also shows a president from another generation and another mindset, who has the ability to connect with the youth of a nation that was not only left out of, but disinterested in the political process for far too long.

While I do think the fist pound between this up and coming powerhouse couple is pretty damn cool, I’m not amazed at how the news media has jumped on it, reporting on instances where Barack was approached by a young boy, only to turn down his request for a “pound” which is completely understandable in my opinion. The fist pound has the potential to turn into an unofficial gesture for the Obama campaign. In a way, their fist pound reflects the attitude and slogan of his campaign.

Yes, I am an African American.

Yes, my name is Barack Hussein Obama.

Yes, it’s true that I have only served in the Senate since November 2004.

But yes, we did just win the Democratic presidential nomination (insert fist pound).
