Schick Commercial Encourages Bush Trimming

Posted on 03 July 2009 by Joe Dimeck

Schick doesn’t beat around the bush.  They just send out obvious hints that maybe you ladies should, you know, trim it.  After all, this isn’t the carefree sixties and seventies anymore.  Big, fluffy genital fros are no longer in style.  Germs and terrorists are our greatest enemies and hair, especially pubic hair, is a breeding ground for germs–evil, nasty, cell-destroying germs.  Besides, nobody likes getting hair in their mouth when they perform oral, which really should be the motivation behind trimming the hair around your twat or sack.  Now you don’t have to napalm the entire forest, but just cut the canopy off to make it easier to spot any unpleasant surprises that might be hidden within.  And if you’re wondering, yes, I am milking this tit for all it’s worth.  I mean, this commercial actually aired on television, which isn’t a bad thing.  But in this politically correct era of phony righteousness I’m just surprised that Schick followed through. BrandNew Clothing: Keeping It Fresh

Posted on 16 May 2009 by Joe Dimeck

bnxs_fupete_detail

Change is inevitable.  The planet changes as do the animals that inhabit it.  People’s tastes change as people change themselves.  However, change is not always guaranteed to be for the better, but in Scotty Taylor’s case progression has trumped regression.  His design and production company, Catalyst Design, has gone from a small operation in a friend’s apartment in Waterbury, Vermont to a warehouse and boutique in South Burlington, Vermont in less than 4 years.  It has evolved from merely design and production to his own clothing collective, BrandNew Clothing, which is both a brand and an ally to other up and coming brands. Fun With Froberg: Obits - I Blame You (Sub-Pop | 2009)

Posted on 23 April 2009 by Henry Soule

obits1Indie rock can be tough, especially for the veterans. In Rick Froberg’s case, it’s gotta be down right stressful at times. Because, for those of you who don’t know, Froberg’s fronted two of the most beguiling underground acts of the last 15 years, and for those really in the know, you may be aware that he’s a San Diego punk scene icon. First making a blip on the radar with Pitchfork, he really started bending minds with his second group, Drive Like Jehu, which took the angularity of Fugazi’s post-hardcore and successfully melded it with paranoid prog-rock. Next was Hot Snakes, which dropped the prog, and went for the jugular clutch, reveling in punked-up psychedelia and defiant eccentricity. For those lucky ones who latched onto Froberg’s wavelength, they’ve been treated to a boatload of righteous weirdness and anti-stardom. Not one for collecting accolades, Froberg’s continuously shrouded himself behind monikers like Rik Furr and Eric Froberg. Continue Reading

imag3_mountaintee_thumbHow do you get lifted? Russell Martin, designer, entrepreneur, and regular dude, wants to know. Getting lifted has been the running theme at IMAG3, Russell’s independent clothing company that has progressed from hand-cut stencil-made shirts to high-quality professionally-screen printed apparel. What does getting lifted mean? In essence, it’s all about progression and rising above your current state, which Russell has managed to do with each step in the IMAG3 journey. Continue Reading

Aretha Franklin’s inauguration hat is getting a lot of attention. Luke Song designed the hat. According to the Associated Press he is selling similar versions of her hat. You can check out his website here:  www.mrsongmillinery.com

Her hat is getting a lot of attention on the internet also. People are using photoshop to put her hat in their own pictures, on well known people and iconic pictures. There is a fan page on Facebook with over 30,000 members. Flickr has a photo pool where users can add their pictures with her hat.

fashion forward or fashion flop?

Posted on 25 November 2008 by Jamie Villarreal

I know, I know. I’ve been slacking and deserve a slap on the hand. Then I decided, what better way to get back into the posting swing than with a hit or miss?

Bobby Trendy and Phoebe Price out for an afternoon stroll and some retail therapy. I know you have to have an opinion on this so let’s hear it!

Bold, fierce and fabulous or hideous, hot mess?

Michael Kors finally arrives in Washington

Posted on 23 October 2008 by Lela Luxe

Michael Kors has decided to open up shop in Washington’s Bellevue Square.  It’s a 3,000 square-foot store and schedule to open in July of 2009.

Kors’ fans will find his ready-to-wear collection, including shoes, handbags, watches, fragrances, and eyewear.  It will be a lifestyle store, just as the ones found in New York and throughout the country (there are 33).

In 2009 he’s looking to open 20 more! Not sure if this will affect his exclusivity.  Michael Kors is already a mass produced brand, easily found in discount stores.  We’ll just have to see.  I’m sure we won’t here any protest.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Strikes a Pose for L’Uomo Vogue, You bad boy!

Posted on 22 October 2008 by Lela Luxe

Sean "Diddy" Combs
Sean “Diddy” Combs has graced the cover of L’Uomo Vogue, in honor of their music issue.

Sean Combs discusses the presidential election and his dedication to inspiring America’s youth to vote.  As expected he boasts (and righteously so) on his successful business empire and his evolving within the music industry.  Mark Seliger does the fabulous snapping, while Mr. Combs  graces Tom ford, Roberto Cavalli, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren’s Black Label, and Sean John of course.

Sean “Diddy” Combs said, “The concept of “Black on Black” in this story represents a level of strength, a level of beauty, a level of sexy and chic that I really want to portray. It’s the future. And it’s not just a race thing; it’s almost a redefinition of the color. Think about how ignorant people actually make the color black represent something negative. Black is so beautiful, I see it in everything I am, as a person, as a man, as a fashion professional. Black is beautiful.”

Worth the buy.  Diddy is admirable, does his job well and deserved this fabulous spread.

Project Runway finale

Posted on 22 October 2008 by Jamie Villarreal

Last Wednesday was the finale of Project Runway. Two of my favorites from day one made it to Bryant Park: Leann and Korto. Kenley should have been gone awhile ago and not only because she was incredibly defensive and bitchy. If we played the Kenley drinking game this season we all would have been terribly wasted every Wednesday night. But her crappy attitude is besides the point!

Let’s talk Bryant Park - the line up was Kenly, Korto and rounding them up, Leann. Tim Gunn filled in as guest judge last minute for Jennifer Lopez, who pulled out because of a “foot injury” but still managed to compete in a triathalon two days later. Gunn makes it work far better than J-Lo anyway. Kenley realizes she probably should not have been such a raging bitch when she hears that news. Continue Reading

Interview with Suede from Project Runway

Posted on 21 October 2008 by Jamie Villarreal

Anyone who reads my blog could probably tell that I’m a huge Project Runway fan and I have been since the beginning (Jay was totally my favorite winner ever). I had my first Project Runway designer encounter when I met Santino (who is probably one of the nicest guys ever) back in April and now I have another to add to that list!

Due to an amazing blog friend who seriously hooked it up, I managed to score a little interview with Suede! Unfortunately, we couldn’t do the interview in person but if he ever comes to Chicago (seriously, call me up!), I will buy him a drink because if he is half as fun as this looks, I think it will be a good time!

Check out what Suede had to say! Continue Reading

Rosie, you’re out. This isn’t Project Runway

Posted on 20 October 2008 by Lela Luxe

Infamous Pic, courtesy of Daily Mail

According to Daily Mail, Burberry has booted Rosie for the leakage of a photo depicting her smoking a bong. Rosie was recently touted as the new face of Burberry, and reportedly “the next big thing” after Kate Moss. Hopefully she really doesn’t decide to follow in all of Moss’s footsteps. Burberry had to already deal with not so pretty publicity when Kate Moss was photographed snorting cocaine.

Come on Rosie, don’t let fame get to ya.  We REALLY need a Kate Moss replacement.

Reports say that she and her boyfriend Tyrone (Rolling Stones Ronnie Woods son) wasn’t asked to do the next Burberry campaign and instead Eden Clark and Alex Pettyfer took her spot.  Tsk tsk tsk…. Pictures after the jump. Continue Reading

David Arquette and Ben Harper buddy-up for new line.

Posted on 18 October 2008 by Lela Luxe

Yesterday was the celebration for the release of David Arquette and Ben Harper’s new casual clothing line Propr. They partnered up with David Bedwell to create funky yet casual men’s and women’s clothing. The event was super-star-studded and was held at the Luau Restaurant, everyone who was anyone in the entertainment and fashion industry (and happened to be in LA) attended. The fashion show which was on the 16th was also glitterati’d up, with attendees like Heidi Klum, Cindi Crawford, David Spade, and Rande Gerber.

Last night’s launch party was of course attended by Jennifer Anniston. AND of course the media was more riddled with her attendance and her skipping out early to meet up with her off-again, on-again beau John Mayer and staying past midnight to ring in his birthday.

Anyway, back to the more exciting–Propr and David Arquette. The line is predicted to be a success, however critics are apprehensive as to who is going to actually buy the clothing. The suspense will hover until we spot a celeb rocking the threads.

Pictures after the jump… Continue Reading

Madge’s shoes stir up controversy

Posted on 15 October 2008 by Jamie Villarreal

At the premier of Madonna’s directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, she stepped out guns blazing. Okay, not really, but her shoes were packing. Donning a pair of Chanel’s Miami Vice heels from the 2009 Cruise Collection, little did Madonna know what she was starting. Scratch that, you know she did. First, announcing she will kick Sarah Palin’s ass at a concert and now gun shoes.

Lynn Costello, from Mothers Against Murder And Aggression, said in a statement released this week regarding Madge’s footwear: Continue Reading
