fashion forward or fashion flop?
November 25, 2008 by Jamie Villarreal
I know, I know. I’ve been slacking and deserve a slap on the hand. Then I decided, what better way to get back into the posting swing than with a hit or miss?
Bobby Trendy and Phoebe Price out for an afternoon stroll and some retail therapy. I know you have to have an opinion on this so let’s hear it!

Bold, fierce and fabulous or hideous, hot mess?
Michael Kors finally arrives in Washington
October 23, 2008 by Lela Luxe
Michael Kors has decided to open up shop in Washington’s Bellevue Square. It’s a 3,000 square-foot store and schedule to open in July of 2009.
Kors’ fans will find his ready-to-wear collection, including shoes, handbags, watches, fragrances, and eyewear. It will be a lifestyle store, just as the ones found in New York and throughout the country (there are 33).
In 2009 he’s looking to open 20 more! Not sure if this will affect his exclusivity. Michael Kors is already a mass produced brand, easily found in discount stores. We’ll just have to see. I’m sure we won’t here any protest.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Strikes a Pose for L’Uomo Vogue, You bad boy!
October 22, 2008 by Lela Luxe

Sean “Diddy” Combs has graced the cover of L’Uomo Vogue, in honor of their music issue.
Sean Combs discusses the presidential election and his dedication to inspiring America’s youth to vote. As expected he boasts (and righteously so) on his successful business empire and his evolving within the music industry. Mark Seliger does the fabulous snapping, while Mr. Combs graces Tom ford, Roberto Cavalli, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren’s Black Label, and Sean John of course.
Sean “Diddy” Combs said, “The concept of “Black on Black” in this story represents a level of strength, a level of beauty, a level of sexy and chic that I really want to portray. It’s the future. And it’s not just a race thing; it’s almost a redefinition of the color. Think about how ignorant people actually make the color black represent something negative. Black is so beautiful, I see it in everything I am, as a person, as a man, as a fashion professional. Black is beautiful.”
Worth the buy. Diddy is admirable, does his job well and deserved this fabulous spread.
Project Runway finale
October 22, 2008 by Jamie Villarreal
Last Wednesday was the finale of Project Runway. Two of my favorites from day one made it to Bryant Park: Leann and Korto. Kenley should have been gone awhile ago and not only because she was incredibly defensive and bitchy. If we played the Kenley drinking game this season we all would have been terribly wasted every Wednesday night. But her crappy attitude is besides the point!
Let’s talk Bryant Park - the line up was Kenly, Korto and rounding them up, Leann. Tim Gunn filled in as guest judge last minute for Jennifer Lopez, who pulled out because of a “foot injury” but still managed to compete in a triathalon two days later. Gunn makes it work far better than J-Lo anyway. Kenley realizes she probably should not have been such a raging bitch when she hears that news. [Read more]
Interview with Suede from Project Runway
October 21, 2008 by Jamie Villarreal
Anyone who reads my blog could probably tell that I’m a huge Project Runway fan and I have been since the beginning (Jay was totally my favorite winner ever). I had my first Project Runway designer encounter when I met Santino (who is probably one of the nicest guys ever) back in April and now I have another to add to that list!

Due to an amazing blog friend who seriously hooked it up, I managed to score a little interview with Suede! Unfortunately, we couldn’t do the interview in person but if he ever comes to Chicago (seriously, call me up!), I will buy him a drink because if he is half as fun as this looks, I think it will be a good time!
Check out what Suede had to say! [Read more]
Ten Things Obama Won’t Do If He Becomes President
October 20, 2008 by Christopher Higgins
In a very short while Americans from all walk of life will journey to the polls to elect the 44Th president of these United States. There are lot of rumors flying about what an Obama presidency would resemble if he is elected president. The republican party are sending out emails and making phone calls about what Obama would do if he became president. They are trying to scare people about his associations, while trying to make him unpatriotic. Barack Obama has failed I believe to address these issues with more vigor, so to put some of the nonsense that is being said to rest, I have come up with a list of things you won’t see in an Obama administration. I hope this will wipe away some of the fears that some of us may have if he becomes president. [Read more]

Rosie, you’re out. This isn’t Project Runway
October 20, 2008 by Lela Luxe
According to Daily Mail, Burberry has booted Rosie for the leakage of a photo depicting her smoking a bong. Rosie was recently touted as the new face of Burberry, and reportedly “the next big thing” after Kate Moss. Hopefully she really doesn’t decide to follow in all of Moss’s footsteps. Burberry had to already deal with not so pretty publicity when Kate Moss was photographed snorting cocaine.
Come on Rosie, don’t let fame get to ya. We REALLY need a Kate Moss replacement.
Reports say that she and her boyfriend Tyrone (Rolling Stones Ronnie Woods son) wasn’t asked to do the next Burberry campaign and instead Eden Clark and Alex Pettyfer took her spot. Tsk tsk tsk…. Pictures after the jump. [Read more]
David Arquette and Ben Harper buddy-up for new line.
October 18, 2008 by Lela Luxe
Yesterday was the celebration for the release of David Arquette and Ben Harper’s new casual clothing line Propr. They partnered up with David Bedwell to create funky yet casual men’s and women’s clothing. The event was super-star-studded and was held at the Luau Restaurant, everyone who was anyone in the entertainment and fashion industry (and happened to be in LA) attended. The fashion show which was on the 16th was also glitterati’d up, with attendees like Heidi Klum, Cindi Crawford, David Spade, and Rande Gerber.
Last night’s launch party was of course attended by Jennifer Anniston. AND of course the media was more riddled with her attendance and her skipping out early to meet up with her off-again, on-again beau John Mayer and staying past midnight to ring in his birthday.
Anyway, back to the more exciting–Propr and David Arquette. The line is predicted to be a success, however critics are apprehensive as to who is going to actually buy the clothing. The suspense will hover until we spot a celeb rocking the threads.

Madge’s shoes stir up controversy
October 15, 2008 by Jamie Villarreal
At the premier of Madonna’s directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, she stepped out guns blazing. Okay, not really, but her shoes were packing. Donning a pair of Chanel’s Miami Vice heels from the 2009 Cruise Collection, little did Madonna know what she was starting. Scratch that, you know she did. First, announcing she will kick Sarah Palin’s ass at a concert and now gun shoes.

Lynn Costello, from Mothers Against Murder And Aggression, said in a statement released this week regarding Madge’s footwear: [Read more]
Clarisonic Skincare Brush & Other Ways to Save Your Life
October 14, 2008 by Daniela Scrima
For those of you that don’t lower your credit score every month by binge shopping at Sephora, it’s all right, because I do it for you.
If Sephora offered frequent flyer miles I would be writing this from my nice hotel room in Paris, but since they just offer “bonus points” which lead to you getting the occasional sample of lotion or perfume with every one hundred dollars you drop, I am writing this from my tiny Brooklyn apartment.
Normally I do not go too crazy over new beauty gadgets. I mean, I try all of them. Infomercials were created for people like me, who believe at 3 AM on a Wednesday evening that a new vacuum is as exactly what they have needed in their life all along. So when the rage began last year about Clarisonic’s Skin Care Brush, I was a little hesitant. The “brush” is a large hand held gadget with rotating bristles at the end. Everyone I knew who made this purchase was 1) obnoxiously wealthy and 2) saying that it was totally worth the $200 plus tax you shell out for it.
I tested it out myself while crashing in a giant Tribeca loft one night. My face was encrusted with make-up, alcohol and just a little dribble of vomit, so I figured this was as good of a time as any. The makers of the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush are the Sonic Toothbrush people, so it really is kind of like you are rubbing a giant toothbrush all over your face. [Read more]
The Politics of Weight Loss
October 13, 2008 by Gayle Goh
A year has melted away since I left Singapore for England; with it, so has almost 50 lbs. I am still a plump girl. My underarms wobble, my tummy divides in an unsightly manner at the waist, and my thighs are too thick to be fashionable – but I am indubitably slimmer, at least, enough to have men ask for my number, or my relatives not to recognize me at family gatherings. When I last flew home for Christmas, my own mother, whilst slipping in the seat next to mine, asked my sister to introduce us.
Now would be an excellent opportunity for me to slap a ‘Before’ picture of myself next to an ‘After’: me with a big grin on my face and an old pair of jeans in an expansive puddle around my waist, perhaps. Then I could write a cute little pink book on how I lost x lbs in y days and how you can do it too, and how much more everyone will love you afterwards, thus finally allowing you to start loving yourself too. Fox News finds it ‘mortifying’ that Newsweek won’t Photoshop Palin like a supermodel
October 10, 2008 by Gayle Goh
Megyn Kelly of Fox News recently chaired a heated discussion between Republican media consultant Andrea Tantaros and political strategist Julia Piscitelli about the latest Newsweek cover, featuring the smiling face of Sarah Palin. Tantaros was up in arms about Newsweek’s decision not to retouch Palin’s front page photo. She repeatedly called it a “slap in the face…Why? Because it’s un-retouched.”
Tantaros was also livid over the article’s title and sub-heading, next to the photograph, which read: “She’s one of the folks — and that’s the problem.”
While Tantaros herself says that ‘every human being’ has imperfections such as ‘unwanted facial hair, pores [and] wrinkles’, she takes issue with the fact that Palin should be allowed to be seen having them. One supposes that Palin resembles us ordinary folks in every way save for the affliction of — God forbid, pores! [Read more]
You know you love me
October 7, 2008 by Jamie Villarreal
It’s one of the biggest shows on television right now…
That’s right - it’s Gossip Girl.

He is being conniving. Someone is sleeping with that girl’s boyfriend. She back stabbed so and so. While some are sucked into the black hole of a plot line that GG, the rest of are tuning in for the fashion.
That’s the real star of the show.
Teenagers and young women everywhere tune in to see what they are wearing. Preppy blazers, pin tucked blouses, thigh high boots with pleated skirts and leather jackets- there’s something for everyone no matter what your style is. The best part about it is the Gossip Girl stylists mix in more affordable pieces in with the Balenciaga and Louboutians. While you might not be able to drop $600 on a pair of shoes Blair Waldorf wore, you can put together your own look and include similar items you might find at your local mall. [Read more]
