The PAC is focused on raising funds to support its political and advocacy activities including targeted media ads for candidates. The goal is to have them elected to office where they can help tackle the campaign finance reform. The group is opposed to big corporate donations to candidates during elections and the support for unlimited spending by super PACs.

 

The group enjoys grassroots membership, largely Democrats, with over three million active supporters. With over $4 million in the bank already in the first quarter, the PAC hopes to raise over $35 million from small donations to support the 2018 round. This is an optimistic target for the PAC as they raised $25 million in the 2016 election cycle. It was the first year the group was participating in elections.

 

However, if the aggressive fund-raising tactics they used are anything to go by, they will easily hit the target. In addition, their grassroots activism is rapidly gaining traction. They are also establishing strong relationships with campaign finance groups. Recently, the leveraged this powerful relationship to reach out to Republican senators achieving a 50-50 vote during the nomination of the Education Secretary. The Vice President, however, tipped the scales against the vote.

 

In the same year, the PAC was among the top three federal PACs enjoying a membership of more than three million. The average small donor contribution is just over ten dollars. The group employs a traditional PAC policy with individual donations capped at $5,000. Tiffany Muller, the PACs President, said small donors are excited to have the capacity to fight big money head on.

 

The battle has got closer to the frontlines since the election of the new administration, which largely supports the relaxation of campaign finance laws. House representatives are elected every two years. The current project on the table is the Democratic candidate in Georgia, Jon Ossoff.
