Let’s first discuss the above video.  Wearing the camo face net and using the creepy, serial killer voice distortion really doesn’t do any justice to your message.  Even if you were speaking the complete truth, people would still take you as some whacko with  a gun rather than a concerned citizen who’s trying to help stop something catastrophic.  While the idea of the militia is noble in theory, there always seems to be the trend in modern times for the kind of people who join or start militias to be some overly paranoid conspiracy theorist.  Of course, that makes sense.  Someone who completely believes in things like the Anti-Christ or New World Order won’t just live day-to-day in a constant state of fear and suspicion.  No, they’ll prepare for the worst case scenario–like Blues Traveler singer, John Popper.

After all, put yourself in their shoes.  All the global governments are secretly in cahoots with transnational corporations, who are hell bent on drastically reducing the global population through famine, disease, and violence.  On top of that, once the population is decreased the continental unions that they established prior to the population reduction will merge into one, overarching power structure.  They will spread propaganda to bring about a one mindset world where everyone on the globe is as brainwashed and disconnected from reality as the people of North Korea.   Now if you really believed that wouldn’t you start shooting propane canisters in your backyard and begin stocking up on Dinty Moore?

Nevertheless, militias are on the rise and it’s mostly to do with the state of the economy, Obama, and various conspiracy theories.  Unsurprisingly, many of these militias consist of hardline right-wing gun nuts, white supremacists, people who hate taxes, and dudes with delusions of grandeur who watch way too many Stallone movies.

The thing that is most interesting about this is the fact that there was actually a grassroots movement by many white supremacists to get Obama elected! Why, you ask?  Because, according to their brilliant logic it would wake the white race up and spark an all-out race war, which will help us all realize segregation is the way to supreme happiness.  Yup, the American militia has come a long way from the honorable minutemen, who just didn’t feel like paying some fruity monarchy taxes on things like rum and tea.
