It is official, we are in a recession. There are so many signs that this is true and has been for a while. This sign shouts recession. I found this man standing on Wall Street Monday afternoon. He was wearing a sandwich board for a Wall Street jewelry store stating, “we buy gold” and holding plastic bags to collect it right then and there. You can see The Bank of New York Melon and the New York Stock Exchange in the background. Is it really so bad that people are going to take off their bling in the middle of the street? What signs have you found that we are in a recession? Please leave your feedback in the comments.

Almost half of my friends A.) lost or will lose their jobs within the next week or B.) Can’t find a job.
Apparently, Viacom/MTV is going to be laying off 300 employees by Thursday too.
Awesome!

Yesterday I went to a state license bureau during the lunch hour, when half their staff would be off. Usually, a dumb thing to do. It was the first time in my life (I’m 71) I’ve ever been to a license bureau at any time of the day when there wasn’t a line.

What does this have to do with a recession?
Many would do this without being in a recession.

Hello,
The above photo of the man holding the sign “We Buy Gold” is wonderful. I am producing a biographical video for a 90 yr old friend of mine who has seen both the Great Depression and this Recession. I would very much like to include this photo in the video. Please advise. I will be happy to credit the photographer in the closing credits. Thank you.
