Angry Blackman Theory Quieted By Obama
October 16, 2008 by Christopher Higgins
For those who have been waiting to see the angry black man bust out of the closet during this election season we are probably a little disappointed. Senator Obama has displayed a steady hand throughout. He was often accused of being too arrogant, a common theme for successful black men. He debated Senator Hillary Clinton who threw everything at him but he was able to remain calm under fire. The republican are the latest to try to disrupt his steady, calm demeanor that he displays. They have brought out every possible attack to throw him off but he quietly responds and stay on message.
John McCain’s frustration with not been able to get under the skin of Obama is so evident. He tried unsuccessfully in three debates to throw him off his game but Obama never once got down to the complaining McCain level. There are times when I wish he would fire back zingers at McCain and the constant lies that are the running theme of his campaign. McCain’s long windedness that Barack Obama will raise taxes , even though Obama consistently reminds the American people that he won’t, is an example of how I want him to hit back. He just calmly replies it isn’t true, while McCain’s arms are flaying away and foaming at the mouth with frustration.
I know Barack needs to show that he can be different. The entire world is watching and the stereotypes of all black men sits on his shoulder like a boulder. People are waiting for that reason not to vote for him. The Jeremiah wright relationship that played during the primaries has lost its luster in the general. Sean Hannity and others tried unsuccessful to tie him to this madman. They wanted to link Obama to Jeremiah wright’s sermons as if he sat there and wrote them for him. They wanted Obama to go up to this man and tell him to be careful because I want to run for president in the future and these sermons may came back to harm me. Jeremiah didn’t make him lose his cool. After Jeremiah Wright failed to disqualify during the primary season, Sean Hannity and his bullies tried to make Tony Rezko ,William Ayers, and his comments in San Francisco his kryptonite. Barack still remained cool, never once letting them see him sweat.
Barack’s calmness is reassuring in these troubling times. The next president of these United States will have to have his head on his shoulders when dealing with the economy and all the other issues that face this great nation. John McCain showed me over the last few weeks and during the debates the inability to remain calm and steady. He has lost control of his campaign, and the campaign is usually an indicator of how one would run their White House. John McCain’s heroism for this country is commendable, but his lack of judgement with the selection of Sarah Palin, parachuting into Washington to save the day, and his constant changing messages are his undoing. In this election, the steady arm will prevail over the American hero. Keep the angry black man in the closet Obama or McCain may just rise for the knockout.
