Two Blacks Don't Make A Right
October 15, 2008 by Christopher Higgins
Jessie Jackson is trying to insert himself into this year election not realizing that his time has come and past. According to news report Jackson said, “Obama is about change, and the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it.” He also went on to say that under an Obama administration, Israel relationship with the United States would be different. The McCain campaign which has been faltering the last few weeks and is need of resuscitation is trying to latch onto these comments and make hay out of them. They are trying to say that Mr. Jackson speaks for the Obama campaign even though he is not an adviser.
Jesse Jackson, I have always maintained is unwilling to let go. He still wants to be the voice that Black America holds onto. His time has elapsed and his service throughout the years are well appreciated by many. He needs to move on and allow Obama to carve out his niche and become what he was created to do. Jackson also made news a earlier in the campaign season for some comments he made while unaware of a mike being opened. His comments back then was dismissed by many, including his own son, and the McCain campaign did not hold onto those comments because it was not politically convenient. They were too busy linking Obama to Paris Hilton and others.
Now the McCain campaign which is floundering out of control with erratic statements day after day is trying for one more round. They are trying to link these two men whose ideas and dreams for this country differs greatly. Jessie Jackson is still fighting the civil rights movement, while Blacks in this country have turned the page and are forging ahead to a different America. Barack Obama represent the new America and its hopes and dreams. He represent what the world looks like. A world filled with various ideas and viewpoints. Jessie Jackson needs to say goodbye and watch from a distance. He made his mark and brought the ball has far has he could. Its time to pass the baton and make the new face lead us to the finish line. John McCain’s campaign is out of gas. He is hoping that the country will turn back the clock and live in the past. The fat lady has sung on Jessie Jackson and she is warming up for McCain.
