The Dark Knight: Ticket sales soar while Christian Bale breaks his mother's face
July 22, 2008 by Brian James
Apparently, Christian Bale who plays Bruce Wayne/Batman in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, has been arrested on charges of assault on his mother and sister. Details of the incident have yet to be leaked, but one thing for sure is this will only fuel the buzz surrounding this blockbuster hit! Read on to find out what I had to say about the new batman movie…
I woke up early in order to make it to the 10AM showing of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight which debuted with a record $18.5 million in debut screenings since midnight. Critics previously said that the film could easily break the record for weekend ticket sales and The Dark Knight did just that. According to Sunday’s studio estimates, The Dark Knight took in a record breaking $155.34 million in its first weekend, leaving Spider Man 3 trailing in the dust. However, the numbers don’t matter with Heath Ledger’s stellar performance. His role as The Joker ironically provided several instances of fresh comic relief, breaking the aura of seriousness in the wake of the young actor’s unfortunate and unexpected death.
While the movie is entertaining in the action/thriller movie sense, Nolan’s story reads into the human mind and the effects when placed under high levels of stress, chaos and uncertainty. The Dark Knight plays on the vulnerability of the human psyche with characters portraying the struggles between good and evil, hero and vigilante, conformity and non-conformity. However, like most blockbuster movie hits, Nolan continues the underlying theme of love which started in his first Batman film, Batman Begins, but proved his talent once again as a director, producer and writer by balancing the various themes throughout the movie.
If you are unfamiliar with Christopher Nolan’s work, definitely check out Memento, a neo-noir psychological thriller starring Guy Pearce.

it’s too bad that people keep bothering Christian Bale about these rumors, he seems like a solid guy in general
I agree.. Turns out that he he has separated himself from his family for quite some time now. Apparently there’s some sort of bad blood between Bale and his family. Reports make it seem like a they were just trying to scheme money from him. I think that’s even more of a shame if that’s the case.
