Obama pounds it out with Michelle
July 2, 2008 by Brian James
I was in the Philippines when Obama clinched the Democratic Presidential nomination and missed out on a lot of the news coverage here in the US. While I did watch CNN International, apparently they neglected to cover the Democratic presidential hopeful and his wife pounding it out in celebration of his hard fought victory. Really? Yes.
So what does this say about Obama and his marriage to Michelle? For many, it says a lot. If anything, it portrays their relationship and how they get along and work as a team. It also shows a president from another generation and another mindset, who has the ability to connect with the youth of a nation that was not only left out of, but disinterested in the political process for far too long.
While I do think the fist pound between this up and coming powerhouse couple is pretty damn cool, I’m not amazed at how the news media has jumped on it, reporting on instances where Barack was approached by a young boy, only to turn down his request for a “pound” which is completely understandable in my opinion. The fist pound has the potential to turn into an unofficial gesture for the Obama campaign. In a way, their fist pound reflects the attitude and slogan of his campaign.
Yes, I am an African American.
Yes, my name is Barack Hussein Obama.
Yes, it’s true that I have only served in the Senate since November 2004.
But yes, we did just win the Democratic presidential nomination (insert fist pound).

I think what you mean to say is “terrorist fist pound”
